What does my learning program look like?

In all our grades each student from Year 7 to 10 has:

  • 10 lessons of Core every week – all year (3 English, 2 HASS, 3 Math, 2 Science)
  • 3 lessons of HPE every week – all year

Grade 8 Specialist Subjects

Year 8 students will participate in specialist classes building on from the introductory programs completed in Year 7. Year 8 students will be offered nine specialist programs and can select six of these to include as part of their overall program for the year. Students will participate in three specialist classes for the first semester (Terms 1 and 2) and then their remaining three other specialist classes for the second semester (Terms 3 and 4).

The subjects on offer to Year 8 students are shown below, and descriptions of these subjects are shown on the following pages. Each class is allocated two 70-minute lessons per week.

Grade 9 Specialist Subjects

Year 9/10 students will participate in programs designed to advance their skills across a range of specialist classes, building on from those offered in Years 7 and 8, or finding new areas of interest to begin their Years 11 and 12 pathways. Year 9 and Year 10 students participate in three specialist classes for the full year. Each class is allocated two 70-minute lessons per week.

The subjects on offer to Year 9/10 students are shown below, and descriptions of these subjects are shown on the following pages. Students will be required to select one specialist class from each of the groups shown below.
